The clocks have gone forwards, and apparently it’s Spring. Have you turned your heating off yet, or perhaps you never turned it on? We’re living through troubled times, and even the weather which used to be predictably reassuring is messing with us. Before we pack away our coats and winter boots, and throw caution to the wind and change our bedding to our summer sets (!!), perhaps we should cling onto the cosy blankets we’ve been hiding under all winter.
Here at London & Avalon, we create all sorts of blanket and throw options for you. We don’t shout about them too much, but perhaps we should because they’re so darn beautiful. As with all of our products, we only work with small artisan craftspeople who have generations of experience in their fields, who create products with genuine wholesomeness, rather than cheap copies of what people could mistake for luxury.
We source only the finest cashmere and lambswool yarns from the Scottish borders, and sustainable Alpaca yarns from Peru, and are heavily invested in the journey of those yarns. Getting close to our artisans and to the land - the terroir - where our products come from is one of the most satisfying parts of our business and of the creative process. It is awe inspiring and we want to ensure that the love that has gone into the making of each throw - the spinning of the yarns, the hand stitching of the borders - emanates from each throw, every time you wrap yourself in one.
Our throws are made to order, and can take a bit of time while our artisan craftspeople weave your selected colour yarn into your chosen design and size. We have a selection of different styles to choose from, covering all your needs: a full size blanket to cover the whole of your bed, a runner at the base of your bed to style it out, or a smaller cosy blanket to snuggle under on the sofa or outside by the firepit. Or perhaps, looking forward to those warm summer nights, throws for your guests to pop on their laps as you sip Rosé under a starry summer sky…
