In Conversation with Interior Designer, Vicky Charles
We are delighted to introduce you to the exceptional people we have the privilege of working with. Meet Vicky Charles, co-founder of one of the world's leading interior design studios, Charles & Co.

Vicky's career began in hospitality, working for Soho House founder Nick Jones at Café Boheme in Oxford, before moving to roles in New York and eventually overseeing design for the group's global portfolio, including landmark projects such as Soho Farmhouse, The Ned, and Little Beach House Malibu.
After two decades at Soho House, Vicky left in 2016 to launch Charles & Co with business partner Julia Corden, building the studio through word-of-mouth referrals and a focus on instinctive, layered interiors that prioritise atmosphere, craft, and personal resonance.
Attracting an elite clientele, including David and Victoria Beckham, George and Amal Clooney, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, Harry Styles and Emma Stone, and with many clients returning for multiple residences across locations, we have been extremely fortunate to work with Vicky since her Soho House days, and she shares her answers to our questions below.
Which of your projects are you most proud of and why?
Impossible to answer, that’s like asking if you have a favorite child! I am always the most proud of the project we have just finished.

What do you look for when you are creating the dream bedroom for your client?
There are a lot of practical questions that need to be answered when designing a bedroom before you even talk about color pallets, or textures. What kind of mattress? Bedding? what is the morning/evening ritual and what else we need to make space for other than a bed? Blackout or morning light? Depending on the location is there a view you want to wake up to or are you cocooned away in your home? Who do you share the bedroom with and your different sleep habits. All the functionality is key to creating a dream bedroom.

What is the incoming bedroom trend you are seeing?
With Oura rings and other apps to measure health and longevity the importance of sleep and the quality of sleep is a hot topic so the bed and the design of the bedroom and creating an optimum space for sleep is very topical right now.

In your opinion, how does London & Avalon bed linen enhance your projects?
It’s about quality and ensuring that what touches the skin for sleep not just looks good but feels good and gets better and better with multiple washes. The customization is also fabulous allowing us to be very practical adding colored trim to match the bedroom and mattress sizes.
